Principals: Professor Carol M. Shaw was an early thought-leader of Lean. She was
an organizer of Lean conferences, seminars, and meetings, and served as a consultant to numerous companies. She formed the Center for Competitive Change at the University of Dayton in the early 1990s, which became nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in the field. She has served on a number of Boards including education, business and non-profits. At the University of Dayton, she organized and initiated one of the first Women in Engineering movements in the United States. Her last assignment was teaching Lean in School of Business MBA program.
Dr. Phillip L. Hayden is an Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer with over 40 year of experience. He founded Hayden Environmental Group, Inc. in 1972 during the very early years of the environmental movement and was active in the growth of the EPA regulatory programs. He formed and operated an EPA Drinking Water and American Industrial Hygiene Association Certified Laboratory, an industrial hygiene program, air sampling group, site assessment and environmental drilling, hazardous chemicals management and regulatory compliance company. He operated a design/build subsidiary that prepared engineering designs, procured and shipped equipment, supervised construction and commissioned over 50 water and wastewater treatment plant projects for major soft drink companies, both internationally and in the U.S.
Capabilities: Both Professor Carol Shaw and Dr. Phillip Hayden will plan and facilitate sustainable organizations through the implementation of Lean operations that concentrate on quality, productivity and the reduction of waste through continuous improvement initiatives, for education, charities, non-profits and start-up companies.
